Nettle - Urtica Dioica

For pets needing additional trace minerals and vitamins, nettle can be a valuable addition to their diet. Nettle also offers benefits beyond nutrition. Nettle leaf tea can serve as a skin and coat rinse, providing relief for itchy skin and fleabites. It is also known to help alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies when taken regularly. 

Additionally, nettle root may have potential applications in treating prostate enlargement, particularly in its early stages. This is relevant for animals experiencing prostate issues due to infections, poor diet, inflammatory diseases, or urinary tract injuries. The active component, Beta-sitosterol, may contribute to reducing swelling in surrounding tissues, offering relief from symptoms. 

While nettle can be beneficial, caution is necessary to prevent irritation to the kidneys, especially in animals with pre-existing kidney disease.

Add 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of leaves to a cup of hot water and allow to infuse for 2-3 minutes before straining and serving. Ensure the tea has cooled adequately before presenting it to your dog.
